Posted 5/19/2006 1:11:50 AM | | | You know i have read all your forum posts and i have to tell you that i am one of the members you are referring to when it comes to not reading.
I confess, i am not too proud to admit it. When i first came upon your web site, i was so excited that i just signed up without reading anything. i figured that i could sign up and get work 123.
Boy was i wrong.. you guys were really hard on me. you rejected the wonderful photo of a me and my friends at happy hour. I could not understand it, this photos was the best picture in my opinion i had ever had taken of myself.
i was pretty miffed when you shot me back an email that said pretty much "you have to be kidding me" . They sent links and told me to read the web site or else i would not get accepted.
I thought pretty hard about just saying forget it, i am paying you guys to get me in the movies, how dare you tell me i need to need and get my act together.
After calming down i decided that i would buckle down and do what you guys were telling me to do. I have always wanted to act in a real film or television commercial and break away from just doing theater and besides you did not charge very much, so i logged on to your forum and read every post. i even read the web site. link by link.
Then i scanned in two photos that i felt fit the requirements you emailed me about. so i sent the photos and i wrote a paragraph about my experience and skills. There i thought, that will make them happy.
Again, you wrote back immediately telling me the photo was acceptable after you guys did some cropping and what not and that you could make it work, HOWEVER, i still had more preparation, my resume.
Again, i though what is this? Why are they giving me a hard time. I did everything, read everything and now they want a professional resume? I do not have that much experience! But ok, back to the drawing board, i read the posts and the link they sent me AGAIN and sat down to get my resume together.
I did not have that much experience and figured it was not enough to put a resume together. Boy was i wrong again. After following your instructions, my resume actually looked good! After adding my stats, my theater and my skills I had a decent resume!
I was excited when i sent you my resume. i figured now you would approve me and away i would go. To my horror, Chris shot me back an email praising my work BUT now she wanted a sample email submission to make sure i understood how to be "Professional" when i contacted the casting agents BEFORE they would let me have access to the auditions.
I almost wrote back to her and said that this was way more trouble than it was worth. What is the deal, i paid to have access but they were making me jump through hoops. I could go to other sites and they would not make me do this!
Well, i says to myself. I will show them, i will do what they told me and just see what other obstacles they throw in my way to not allow me to see the casting calls. I was even wondering if there were any audtions in the first place but i did as instructed and formatted the email sample submission.
When i was done i could see why they told me to do what i did. It too looked pretty darn good. Hey i looked like i knew what i was doing!
With trembeling fingers, i sent it and and was really nevous about what they were going to say.
I waited by my computer awaiting the aswer and within 15 minutes they responded. All the message said was can i call them? Eeekkk, call them, you mean i have to talk to them?
I picked up the phone and began to dial the number slowly but surely. What were they going to say? It's ringiiiinnnnngggg...
"This is Chris" was the next thing i heard. I introduced myself and Chris acted like we were old friends! She knew who i was immediately and began to tell me like it was.
"I am sooo proud of you" It took us a week to get you to understand and we were pulling our hair out but now we are all happy to say that you are approved. Your email, your photo, your resume look terrific!"
She made me feel so good. I felt like a little puppy lapping up praise. Chris then gave me verbal instructions on how to access the calls and even suggested a few thatthat i should submit to right away and they would activate my ability to see the calls within minutes.
After hanging up, i was so excited and could not wait to get started. i waited 15 minutes and then logged on to the froum and when i did i was prompted that an email from the staff was waiting for me. When i viewed the forum, it looked like magic, there was this huge list of states up with tons of audtions!
I was like a kid in a candy store and i took their suggestion and read alot of auditions in the forum first so i could get a feel for how it worked and what agent and casting people are looking for.
Then the big moment came where i was going to submit. i choose the calls i wanted and got out my email sample and began to customize each email and reading the posting over and over again to make sure i included whatever it was they were asking for. I checked my spelling over and over, my into over and over and finally sent them....
I submitted for five auditions the first day and four more the second day and O MY GOD.. THE THIRD DAY I GOT BACK THREE RESPONSES! SO NOW I HAVE TWO AUDITIONS AND A BOOKING FOR EXTRA WORK!
You guys are da BOMB! Thank you, thank you, thank you.... You made me learn, you made me do it right!
I DO NOT THINK I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN THE RESPONSE FROM JUST SENDING MY CRAPPY PHOTO AND PARAGRAPH OF JUMBLED TEXT. I UNDERSTAND NOW AND AM MORE CONFIDENT JUST BECAUSE I LOOK GOOD ON PAPER, WELL VIRTUAL PAPER. Acting World, here I come!
IF I EVER MAKE IT TO OSCAR NIGHT, I WILL PRAISE YOU ALL JUST AS YOU PRAISED ME.
