For the purpose of posting on ExtrasForMovies.com and submitting to casting directors, we will outline what you need in the way of photos and why.

PLEASE READ THIS ENTIRE POST

The subject of photos is a rather lengthily so we are only going to cover what we require to accept your posting on our website or how to prepare your photos to submit for casting calls and auditions.

Hundreds of emails pour in from people do not seem to get what is needed to submit photos properly. Your photos are your first and ONLY impression when displaying on the website and doesn't’t it make sense to provide photos and materials with some thought and logic?

There are hundreds of casting personnel looking for actors/actresses and extras to work their projects.

With all that said, may we offer you apply a few of the basic tips below and take advantage of the exposure that can be gained by posting on our site?

• Get a CLEAR picture of your face. A head and shoulders shot is perfect.
• If you are taking the photo with your home camera:-Check out our posted member photos – Review for what other members provide. Pretend you are looking for talent, which pictures do you prefer?
• Take your photos in front of a solid or simple background. (The more cluttered the background the more it takes away from you.)
• Submit your photos in .jpg format and BIGGER than 200x200 pixels or 3 inches by 3 inches. See FAQ page for more info.
  
  If you are going to get your own web page, take a series of photos as above but in various outfits, hairstyles and so forth. Include full body shots.
• The purpose of showing more photos is to display your body shape, your versatility, facial expression and overall confidence on camera. (You can pretty much tell how much experience a person has or potential by viewing their various photos)
• We try to clean up pictures that we receive but there is only so much that can be done.
• Some people submit a picture of themselves in their dirty bedroom, living room or at a party or they send us a photo with another person.
• Why would you submit a photo with another person? Think about it. The production person as well as our staff does not even know who the person is that is looking for work!
• Maybe some of you think that we can cut the person out, or you helpfully crop them before submission. Most of these cut out photos result in a cheek glued to your face, your dearest friend growing out of your shoulder or you are wearing an arm as collar.
• Some people, when informed that their photo is not acceptable will go so far as to draw on their photos with what looks like a scribble to block out aspects of their photographs! All this does is elicit hysterical laugher from our reviewers. Imagine submitting a picture with scribbles all over it!
• We have even had people submit photos of their rear ends and various body parts as if this will get them the part! We understand that people are proud of various parts of their anatomy, but really.. get a clue.. unless you are casting for body part projects, all we want to do is see your face!
• You do not have to have professional pictures: Although professional photos are ideal.

Please submit

• Clear and large enough to see your face
• Absent of other people
• Not in front of a cluttered background
• Nothing obstructing your face. No sunglasses
• No blurry photos
• No Photos with color casts
  
  The department gets people that can't read or did NOT read the FAQ page on how to submit as we keep requesting.
  
  We do review members submissions and what gets them rejected is not following instructions as posted on the website, submitting inappropriate photos or not responding to our emails.
  
  Additionally, if you are going to list on our website, be sure to update your photos. It is disappointing to a casting person to select someone off the site that does not resemble his or her picture. It does not make sense to continue to have your posting online if you cannot take the responsibility to keep your materials and contact fresh.
