We have been flooded with emails asking why our auditions are no longer offered for free any longer. Many ask us why do they have to be a member or supporter of our site. Or why do they to pay to access our clients and job postings free and unchecked?
Why do they have to post their photo on our site or become an EFMGOLD supporter?
EFM is one of the oldest casting sites on the Internet.
EFM was started by actors and casting directors with the sole purpose to help others get into the field of modeling and acting as well as provide casting directors a great avenue to get quality talent and extras for their projects.
EFM has the lowest rate on the Internet allowing people to display their photos and resumes online to hundreds of casting directors from all over the world.
For over three years EFM hasoffered casting calls and auditions to the general public as well as the members of our web site. We review all casting calls and filter out the scammers and suspicious auditions.
Of late we have had to change our web site model because of massive abuse.
We tried to keep the auditions free to everyone but at the expense of even more man-hours and costs.
· Other casting sites are stealing our casting calls and putting them on their web sites.
· Members from other competitive sites were submitting for EFM casting calls and sending our clients to other web sites and not even giving us the consideration of adding in their email as requested to advise the casting personnel that they saw the ad on ExtrasForMovies.com.
· Other casting sites are farming and spamming the casting personnelemail addresses off our web site.
· Users, regardless that we gave them tips on how to submit for auditions were still sending the casting personnel unacceptable submissions. (See our post, you can't fix stupid) for an example of the unprofessional ways people contact the casting directors including:
· Not following instructions in the casting calls ads.
· Sending their photos to everyone, regardless of the state they were in or if they fit the part.
· Not following instructions as posted.
· Sending ignorant messages.
· Not introducing themselves or why they were emailing
· Not supplying the requested information asked for.
· Sending just a photo, with no name. Nothing to indicate that they were even applying for a job.
· Horribly misspelled emails
· And the list goes on.
We know hundreds of people are getting roles and parts in projects due to our web site and hard work. We hear it everyday from casting personnel.
We asked users of our site to let us know about the projects they were getting from our web site and very few took the time to drop us a line. But they kept using our site and getting work.
With all the above, we still tried to keep the open audition section free by reviewing all the submissions before forwarding to the casting director. This resulted in even more man-hours.
We have paid all the bills, marketing costs and staff hours to promote the site and still there is no appreciation, following of instructions, spamming and plagiarism of our web site.
So, after months of deliberation, we have all decided that we will not longer pay for everything, give our hard work away to other casting sites, unappreciative users nor will we allow people to send our clients anything other than professional submissions.
It takes time and money to market, maintain a web site and provide quality service to members, users and casting directors. Over 400.000 monthly visit our site.
So to the hundreds of people that have been emailing us, we would like to ask you why is it that now you take the time to tell us what a wonderful job we have done.
Thank you for telling us how think that taking away the free calls is terrible because now you have to pay us for our work and you can’t afford it… all we have to say is humm...
And to all users that think that do not have to pay to get audition information, help and assistance, marketing avenues to get you work and noticed. We say: "Good luck with that"
The EFMGOLD forum is now open to all members and EFM supporters. All casting calls in the EFMGOLD forum will have direct contact to casting personnel as before but you must adhere to our rules of conduct to maintain your GOLD status.
Before sighing up for GOLD you must read our standards for submission to casting directors, there is no solicitation or spamming allowed.
If you have your own web site, you are welcome to direct casting personnel to your site but DO NOT sends them to any competitor sites.
If we see this happening you will loose your membership immediately.
